Portable got bail.

Delivering his ruling on application for bail made by the singer’s counsel, the presiding judge said the offences are bailable and granted him bail with bail bond of N300,000 and N500,000 as well two sureties who must reside within the jurisdiction of the honorable court.

One month ago the Governor of Rivers State, Governor Nyesom Wike conveyed the 23 local council chairmen of the state, asking them to hire bulldozers and destroy every identified illegal crude oil bunkering and illegal refinery in their LGA. The meeting also involve the commissioner of police, and the NSCDC Commander in the state.

The Governor gave this order on Wednesday 12 January 2022 in a statement issued by his media aide, Kelvin Ebiri, after meeting with the council chairmen, the State commissioner of police and the commandant of the civil defence in Port Harcourt.

He urge the Commissioner of Police in the state, Eboka Friday, to provide sufficient security for the council chairmen as they kick-off on the mass destruction of illegal refinery sites, giving the chairmen 48 hours ultimatum to serve him kin list of all illegal refinery in their jurisdiction.

The governor said with the receipt of the list of identified illegal refinery sites, the state government would provide financial assistance to the LGA chairmen to hire bulldozers and swamp buggies for the purpose of destroying all the sites.

"I will not relent in this fight. And all of you should hire bulldozers. All those areas where the illegal refinery sites are in the bush, in the creek, clear the place. Government will give you some money to go and hire bulldozers to go and clear the sites so that they will know we are serious,” he said.

The Governor also stressed that government will not allow those engaged in illegal syndicate to operate in Rivers State.

“One thing I want to say and which is very clear, and like everybody knows, I am not against anybody making money. But we cannot allow people to make money, while others are dying,” he stated.

In a statement recently signed by the DMW boss, billionaire and multiple award winning singer on Tuesday clearify his fans, friends and social media users on his Instagram handle. He revealed that the money had been disbursed to 292 homes selected from all the states of the federation.

The statement reads, “As promised, a five-man disbursement committee was set up. Since its inauguration, the members of this committee have worked tirelessly to ensure that they collate the names and information of documented and verified orphanages. I am pleased to announce that the disbursement of funds is complete.

“So far, the total of N250,000,000 has been disbursed to 292 orphanages.

“As promised in my first statement, I have listed/attached the names and amounts disbursed to the various orphanages. In the spirit of transparency, I thought it wise to give you my loyal supporters, fans, friends and family an update in this regard.”

Davido also took the time to thank those who contributed to the fund and the committee that oversaw the disbursement of the funds.

“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that made this possible, the committee of high calibre and principled people who dedicated their time to ensure this task was expeditiously carried out, my wonderful family, friends and well-wishers. Thank you for your continuous support and love,” he added.

NEWS TODAY: Biden-Xi talks: Leaders conclude first virtual summit, says state media

 US President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping have concluded their first face-to-face virtual summit, Chinese state media said.

The meeting came as tensions rise between the two countries on issues like Taiwan, trade and human rights.

Mr Biden said both countries had a responsibility to ensure their rivalry did not "veer into open conflict".

Tuesdays talks are the most substantial discussions both leaders have had since Mr Biden took office in January.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying described the meeting as "constructive and productive", adding that it helped "increase mutual understanding".

The meeting began with both leaders greeting each other warmly, with Mr Xi saying he was happy to see his "old friend" Biden.

"I stand ready to work with you Mr President, to... move China-US relations forward in a positive direction."

Mr Biden's comments appear to be a nod to Taiwan - a point of growing contention between both countries.

Beijing views Taiwan as a breakaway province, but democratic Taiwan sees itself as a sovereign state.

The US has been increasingly vocal about its commitment to defending the island.

Mr Biden said last month that the US would defend Taiwan if China attacked, in an apparent departure from a long-held US foreign policy position of "strategic ambiguity" which has seen Washington being deliberately vague about what it would actually do.

Issues like cybersecurity, trade and nuclear non-proliferation were also expected to be discussed.
